Follow the full play-by-play and box score →Alabama listed seven players as questionable Wednesday for its SEC road game against LSU, with five starters among the uncertain group. Wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, cornerback Zabien Brown, offensive linemen Racin Delgatty and William Sanders, and defensive lineman Terrance Green were the starters named.
Coleman-Williams, Delgatty and Green have missed Alabama’s past two games, while Brown did not play against Texas A&M. Sanders was injured during the win over the Aggies and underwent TightRope surgery during Alabama’s bye week.
Running backs EJ Crowell and AK Dear also received questionable designations. Crowell missed the Texas A&M game because of a lower-leg injury. Dear, fourth on Alabama’s running back depth chart, has played four offensive snaps this season, according to Pro Football Focus. His last appearance was in the Week 5 victory over Mississippi State.
Quarterback Jett Thomalla was listed as doubtful after being added to the report. The true freshman is third on the quarterback depth chart and has not played this season.
Outside linebacker Desmond Umeozulu is out with turf toe. Coach Kalen DeBoer said Monday that he hopes Umeozulu can return later this season. Linebacker Cayden Jones, defensive back Nick Sherman and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman also were listed as out.
LSU listed safety Dashawn Spears, wide receiver Phillip Wright III, Charles Ross II and defensive tackle Richard Anderson as out. Linebacker Whit Weeks was doubtful, while linebacker Zach Weeks was questionable.
Under the SEC availability policy, questionable means participation is uncertain and carries a 50% chance to play. Players listed as doubtful have a 25% chance to play, an out designation means the player will not play.
No. 5 Alabama enters Saturday’s game at 6-2 overall and 4-2 in SEC play. Kickoff against No. 14 LSU, which is 6-2 and 3-2 in the conference, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC in Baton Rouge.
Why it matters
Alabama could be without multiple starters on both lines and in the secondary for a road game between ranked SEC teams. The Crimson Tide enters at 4-2 in conference play, while LSU is 3-2.
What to watch next
Alabama and LSU must update their reports Thursday and Friday, then issue game-day updates no later than 90 minutes before Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
