No. 5 Alabama included running backs AK Dear and EJ Crowell, wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, defensive back Zabien Brown, center Racin Delgatty, offensive guard William Sanders and defensive lineman Terrance Green.
Coach Kalen DeBoer said earlier in the week that practice would determine who could play. He indicated Sanders might need more time than some of the other injured players, while Coleman-Williams, Green and Delgatty appeared in practice footage released this week.
LSU listed linebacker Whit Weeks as doubtful. The Tigers had been without Weeks for several games, while tight end Trey’dez Green returned against Auburn after missing the Kentucky game.
The matchup brings a sharp statistical contrast from LSU’s past two games. Kentucky gained over 400 yards against the Tigers and led for more than half of that game, but LSU answered by producing 552 yards at Auburn in its latest outing.
DeBoer described LSU as a complete team that plays with an attacking mindset on both sides of the ball. He pointed to the Tigers’ pressure, improving offensive coordination and fast, confident play rather than tying that aggression strictly to deep throws or heavy blitzing.
Alabama also has prepared for LSU’s crowd noise by piping noise into practice and stressing communication between quarterback Keelon Russell and the offense. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said LSU’s defense works to distract opponents, and DeBoer acknowledged that practice cannot fully reproduce the environment Alabama will face.
DeBoer said Alabama has not discussed the CFP rankings internally. His message was that the Crimson Tide must handle its own work rather than focus on the current order.
Why it matters
Alabama’s availability questions touch the backfield, offensive line, secondary and defensive front before a road game against No. 14 LSU. In their latest outing, the Tigers gained 552 yards at Auburn.
