Talyn Taylor builds early role in Georgia offense

Georgia sophomore wide receiver Talyn Taylor has produced three touchdown catches and a 110-yard game during his 2026 season. The 6-foot, 190-pound receiver wears No. 1 after appearing in six games as a reserve during 2025.

Taylor opened 2026 with three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee State, adding a 31-yard rush. Two catches for 31 yards and another score followed against Western Kentucky.

His biggest performance came in Georgia’s win over Oklahoma, when he set career highs with four receptions and 110 receiving yards while scoring a touchdown. Taylor later caught three passes for 43 yards in a road win at Alabama. Against Auburn, his four receptions for 64 yards matched his career high for catches.

His other listed production includes three catches for seven yards against Vanderbilt. In Georgia’s win over Florida, Taylor had two receptions for three yards and gained six yards on one rushing attempt.

Taylor arrived at Georgia in January 2025 and took part in spring drills before playing a reserve role that fall. The roster lists appearances against Marshall, Austin Peay, Tennessee, Alabama, Alabama in the SEC Championship Game and Ole Miss in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. It also credits him with two receptions for 28 yards against Charlotte.

His recruiting profile matched the production he delivered at Geneva High School in Illinois. As a senior, Taylor led his team with 84 receptions for 1,617 yards and 24 touchdowns. He helped Geneva finish 12-2 and reach the IHSA Class 6A state championship game. The 247Sports composite rated him as a five-star prospect, the No. 27 player nationally, No. 6 wide receiver and No. 1 prospect in Illinois.

Why it matters

Taylor has moved beyond his 2025 reserve role and delivered receiving touchdowns in three 2026 games. His 110-yard performance against Oklahoma is his first listed 100-yard game for Georgia.
