Thomas Blackshear sets career highs against Vanderbilt

Georgia sophomore wide receiver Thomas Blackshear recorded career highs of three receptions and 33 receiving yards against Vanderbilt in 2026, according to his official school roster profile. He wears No. 2 and is listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds.

Blackshear also caught two passes for 15 yards in Georgia’s season-opening win over Tennessee State. Those two appearances mark increased production from his 2025 season, when he played in three games and totaled two receptions for 23 yards.

The Savannah, Georgia, native made his college debut in the 2025 opener against Marshall, catching one pass for 14 yards. He added a nine-yard reception against Charlotte and also appeared against Texas.

Blackshear arrived from Calvary Day School after playing wide receiver and defensive back. As a senior, he led the team with 38 receptions for 866 yards and 14 touchdowns while helping Calvary Day finish 10-2 and reach the GHSA Private quarterfinals. He also had 15 carries for 74 yards and one touchdown, plus 250 yards on 13 kick returns.

His recruiting evaluations varied by outlet. PrepStar Magazine, Rivals and On3 rated him as a four-star prospect, while 247Sports, ESPN and DawgPost listed him as a three-star prospect.

Why it matters

Blackshear’s three-catch performance against Vanderbilt exceeded his entire reception total from the 2025 season. His early 2026 production reflects a larger role in Georgia’s receiving rotation than he held across three appearances as a freshman.
