Linebacker Sam Greene is probable, while defensive back Isaiah McMillan is questionable. Those designations can change as Kentucky submits required updates following practice Thursday and Friday.
The conference also requires a game-day report no later than 90 minutes before kickoff. At that stage, players may be designated only as available, a game-time decision or out.
The matchup in Knoxville carries College Football Playoff implications. Kentucky coach Will Stein described Tennessee as an elite SEC opponent and pointed to a Volunteers offense featuring running back DeSean Bishop, who has 957 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
Stein also praised Tennessee coach Josh Heupel’s offensive approach and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ unit. In a hostile road setting, Kentucky will face a defense Stein said ranks No. 1 in sacks and No. 2 in tackles for loss.
Why it matters
Kentucky will face Tennessee with four linebackers or defensive backs unavailable. McMillan’s uncertain status leaves another defensive availability question before a game with College Football Playoff implications.
What to watch next
Kentucky must update its report Thursday and Friday before issuing a final game-day update no later than 90 minutes before kickoff.
