Follow the full play-by-play and box score →DJ Pickett and LSU’s defense forced two interceptions and made a pair of fourth-down stops Saturday night, helping the Tigers beat Western Kentucky 13-10 in their final home game of the 2025 season. LSU improved to 7-4 despite an offensive turnover and a late fumble return that gave the Hilltoppers a chance.
Western Kentucky opened the scoring with John Cannon’s 36-yard field goal, then intercepted Van Buren at midfield early in the second quarter. LSU’s defense kept the deficit under control by stopping the Hilltoppers on fourth-and-4 from the Tigers’ 4-yard line. On another fourth down at the LSU 38, Ja’Keem Jackson tackled Marvis Parrish behind the line to gain.
Van Buren eventually connected with Trey’Dez Green for an 11-yard touchdown late in the first half. Green was targeted four times on the drive.
After recording a blindside sack on the previous possession, freshman cornerback DJ Pickett intercepted Rodney Tisdale at the Western Kentucky 11 and returned the ball three yards. Sophomore cornerback PJ Woodland added another interception in the third quarter.
Damian Ramos made field goals from 18 and 29 yards as LSU built enough separation to survive the final minute. With 1:05 remaining, freshman running back Harlem Berry fumbled. Western Kentucky’s Jordan Donald returned the recovery 71 yards for a touchdown that cut LSU’s lead to 13-10.
The official LSU recap contains conflicting intermediate scores, listing the Tigers’ touchdown as producing a 7-6 lead before later describing Ramos’ first field goal as extending the lead to 10-3. The final score and the reported scoring plays establish LSU’s 13-10 victory, but the conflicting in-game score references cannot be reconciled from the source alone.
Why it matters
LSU reached 7-4 by surviving an uneven offensive night with takeaways and fourth-down defense. The Tigers’ two interceptions and two turnover-on-downs stops limited the damage before Western Kentucky’s late defensive touchdown.
What to watch next
The source identified LSU’s next game as its regular-season finale at Oklahoma, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
